Apple Is Testing More Than 10 iPhone 8 Prototypes

For months we have been hearing a persistent rumor about one of the iPhone models to be released in 2017. It is rumored that the iPhone 8 will feature an OLED display panel.

The latest report received from The Wall Street Journal confirms us once again that Apple is considering to include an OLED display in one of the 2017 iPhone models.

It is reported that the company has directed its suppliers to increase their OLED display output. The company also wishes to gain prototype screens which will be far better than Samsung.

However we are not sure as to how that will be accomplished in practice especially when Samsung holds 90% share in the OLED panel business. If Apple does manage to succeed with this feature the OLED model iPhone will be expensive than others.

This is because OLED’s are more costly to manufacture than LCD’s. Apple certainly does not want to compromise on its profit margin. Therefore you should be prepared for the expense.

Samsung is most likely to be the initial supplier for the OLED panel but Apple is looking forward to include Sharp, Japan Display and LG display in 2018 too.

It may also be possible that we might not even see the OLED iPhone in 2017 because after all it is just another one of the 10 prototypes under testing by Apple.
