It is the 13th VW brand to come in the market

Volkswagen has named its upcoming thirteenth brand as Moia. It is going to be a new brand by company that will actually focus on the emerging trends that are seen in vehicles industry. The company will focus on mobility on demand and is supposed to focus on Electric vehicles for most part as it is the emerging trend.

Moia will begin its work by offering ride-hailing services in start and will focus on this domain in the short term way. After that they will move on to carpooling and shuttle servicing too. Moia will be focused on car sharing and hailing facilities by building electric vehicles on their own. It is likely that the company will focus on self-driving services too.

"MOIA will help us gain a deeper understanding of new forms of mobility and how to make them even more attractive in future, to offer a much broader scope than at present and to tailor these services to suit very wide-ranging needs. Even though not everyone will still own a car in future, MOIA can help make everyone a customer of our company in some way or another", Matthias Müller, CEO of the Volkswagen Group, said.

Another specially formulated and special-purpose vehicle or SPV is supposed to be built by Moia’s sister vehicle too. The sister passenger vehicle will arrive sometime soon in the next year. While it will support the badges of both firms.

According to Harms, the CEO of Moia, this vehicle will be purpose built thus will focus on the way its seating and carbon space will be formulated. It will be made sure that there are special entrances, driving configuration and spaciousness for the passengers to be seated.

"MOIA is a stand-alone company under the Volkswagen Group umbrella, and will develop and market its own mobility services either independently or in partnership with cities and existing transport systems. In parallel, the Group brands will continue to move forward with their own services. Our sights are set on becoming one of the global top players for mobility services in the medium term. To achieve that we will be seeking to attract the best minds and technology start-ups", Ole Harms, CEO of MOIA, said.

It looks like this Moia will resemble like that of Volkswagen Budd-E microbus that was unveiled on the CES at the start of this year. This vehicles is supposed to make an appearance after its development is completed before the end of current decade. It will be based on Volkswagen’s modular electric vehicle platform (MEB).

Moia has appointed a number of new recruits, currently its team is consisted of 50 members which is supposed to rise up to 200 in a year.
