NVidia is all set to enter the CES 2017 with a bang. The company’s CEO just revealed his big plans forthe upcoming event. Huang, the CEO of NVidia said that they had already revealed a supercomputer for autonomous cars.

This computer is specially designed to be used in self-driving cars and help them out in doing their jobs in a much more resilient way. The new computer for cars is called Drive PX2 which will be the upgraded model of last year’s Drive CX.
According to the company, this computer will be as powerful as 150 MacBook Pros. While the size of it is not bigger than a lunch box! It will have 12 CPU cores and will have the ability to support eight teraflops.
"Drivers deal with an infinitely complex world," said Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and CEO, NVIDIA. "Modern artificial intelligence and GPU breakthroughs enable us to finally tackle the daunting challenges of self-driving cars."
"NVidia's GPU is central to advances in deep learning and supercomputing. We are leveraging these to create the brain of future autonomous vehicles that will be continuously alert, and eventually achieve superhuman levels of situational awareness. This means that it will have the ability to perform 24 deep learning Tera operations per second. The supercomputer has the functioning of water cooling as it will be a really powerful system thus heating up will have to be managed properly.
According to NVidia, a self-driving car is supposed to have a very powerful processor as it has to cater a lot of functions at a single time. The self-driving cars have to cater the functioning of cameras, sensors, and radars.
Thus a powerful processor is the desired thing that will be able to collect data and at the same time process it for safer driving. According to NVidia, this computer will make the self-driving cars intelligent than ever.
This Drive PX2 will have the ability to process information from 12 cameras, along with a LIDAR, radar and ultrasonic sensors at the same time. Thus proving it to be a best choice for autonomous industry.
