The Governor of Michigan Rick Snyder signed a legislature this week allowing testing of autonomous vehicles

Gary Shapiro the President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has applauded the Governor of Michigan for his work towards self-driving cars. Rick Snyder, the Governor of Michigan just signed a legislative this week allowing the testing of self-driving cars in the state.

According to Shapiro, the state of Michigan has once again shown its commitment to innovation. The signing of the new law which allows self-driving vehicle testing is a step towards development of new testing facilities within the state. This is a huge step for automakers and transportation services providers within the state.

Shapiro further stated autonomous and connected are the safe future of vehicles. Such cars have the potential to reduce road accidents by 90% which are caused by human errors.

The advents of such cars also provide a new and unknown independence to seniors and the visually-impaired. Such tech will also be beneficial in eradicating traffic problems.

Shapiro also advised more states need to follow the example set by Michigan and embrace the new model of self-driving cars.

More states need efficient and safe testing for self-driving cars to bring about an American automotive revolution. Shapiro also stated the state is in a position to lead the way for a safer future.
Shapiro also pointed out Governor Snyder’s contributions to the cause and leading the charge. Previously Snyder had stated they will change Michigan into the new mobility leader of the world.

Shapiro applauded Snyder’s words and declared the state is really embracing innovative transportation solutions. The new law will greatly benefit the state as it will bring in extra revenue from the self-driving car facilities.

The CTA will hold a special Self-Driving Technology Marketplace at the upcoming CES 2017.
