Niantic announced that Indian Pokemon fans can now play officially.

The global rollout of Pokemon Go is not finished. Today a huge country has been added. Niantic announced that India is now officially a Pokemon Go territory.

"We’re excited to announce that you can now download and play Pokémon GO officially from the App Store and Google Play. As of today, Trainers living in India and other South Asian countries including Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh can download Pokémon GO and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and many other Pokémon!," said Niantic in a statement.

Niantic is apologetic about not launching earlier in India. "To our Trainers in India - we appreciate your patience during the last few months while we worked on bringing Pokémon GO to your country. The Niantic team had to resolve a few administrative challenges before launching in order to ensure we could provide the best experience possible," the statement continued.

Yesterday Niantic added new Pokemon to Pokemon Go. Trainers can now find Togepi and Pichu. Now through December 29, 2016, 10:00 A.M. PST, trainers find limited edition Pikachu all over the world. These Pikachu will be wearing a festive hat to celebrate the season.
