Hustlers in the front seat! James and Bruno kicked off the segment with Bruno’s latest hit “24K Magic” which is also the name of his latest album. The song started and James jumped right in to sing the song and Bruno let him take the first verse, encouraging him to hit the high notes. Dance moves were a must for both Bruno and James as they sang the chorus together. James laughed on some of the racy lyrics and danced harder as the song progressed.
James told Bruno that every time he has met him, Bruno is always in a great mood. Bruno replied, what’s not to love? James pointed Bruno’s shirt saying that if he was wearing that level of silk, he’d be happy as well and Bruno laughed. James said that if he could dress like Bruno, he’d be over the moon too.
Bruno told him he can but James said that if he did, he’d be perceived as having a break down. Bruno made James feel the shirt which James called a ‘breathable fabric’. Bruno asked if he doesn’t want that fabric on him? James said he would be he couldn’t. He then diverted the topic to hats. Bruno said that he wears the hats because of his hair.
He doesn’t know what to do with it. James produced an oversized top hat and wore it, saying he looked like an undertaker. He had Bruno wear it and he looked suave. James next took out a blue Fedora with an animal print band and a feather. He wore it and then Bruno wore it and looked amazing again. Bruno is a hat guy. The next thing James brought out was a golden, bedazzled cap.
Wearing their cap and hat, they swung into their next performance. Bruno super hit, “Locked Out of Heaven”. They both enjoyed the performance, looking under his cap James laughed as Bruno gave a look over his shades and some racy dance moves followed.
James asked Bruno when he first realized that he wanted to be in music and perform. Bruno said that he was four years old when he realized he wanted to do it. He was impersonating Elvis Presley, 1950s Review in Waikiki. James was amazed and asked him if he could do Elvis’ “Lip” and Bruno did it and ridiculed James over even thinking that he couldn’t do it.
James asked him what song he did and Bruno sang out, “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis and both clapped along. James showed off his best Elvis move. He said that Bruno was like a young Elvis and he was like a fat Elvis. Bruno laughed out. James asked if they would ever get a fat Bruno. He added to his question asking Bruno if there would be a time where he would go berserk over burgers and pies. Bruno replied that if that didn’t happen, he wouldn’t make it.
The next song was the heart rending ballad “Grenade” and both gave an all-out performance hitting high notes. At the end, James told Bruno that he would catch a grenade for him. Bruno asked him if he would. James said that if the pin was in it, he definitely would. If the pin was out, he would run. Bruno cussed at him after staring at him for a minute.
They then sang the Bruno’s new love song from 24K Magic, “Versace on the Floor”. As soon as they reached the lyric, “I unzip the back and watch it fall”; James turned the song down and said to Bruno that it sounds very romantic in the song. However, when he and his wife get home from somewhere and she asks him to unzip her, it takes a good 4 to 6 minutes by which time all the romance is gone.
He said that he struggles with the top and Bruno called it a puzzle. James said then there are spanks and the song doesn’t mention spanks. Bruno was laughing as James tried to work spanks in the song. Bruno told him that the part about the spanks would be in the remake. Bruno showed him some swaying moves which James declared, would get him nowhere. Bruno talked him through the steps so he could dazzle women.
As the song ended, James said that all the song teaches him is that he and Bruno are two different people in the bedroom. He said that if he was bringing out those shoulder moves, he’d be living alone with a roommate above the gas station. In addition, James said that no women he’d ever dated wore Versace. Bruno asked what they wore? James replied simply, Target.
They sang Bruno’s “If I Knew” next with all their heart and soul. James then asked him what Bruno wants in his dressing room. Bruno replied after some thought, booze, wine and wet wipes. James affirmed the supplies and said that if he went home with wine and wet wipes, it’d be a tragic evening for him and it will end up with him crying.
Bruno joked that it was the title of his next album, Wine and Wet Wipes. James joked that it will be massive. James started to sing, ‘Pop the cork and wipe down’ to Uptown Funk’s beat as Bruno gave him drum beat with the song. As expected, they dug right into singing “Uptown Funk” with the sound effects and the poses, grooving to the lyrics. By the end, they were almost breathless. Bruno looked at James and asked, one more time? They started to groove and sing again and ended up in laughs.
James asked Bruno if it was true that he paid his rent by playing cards. Bruno said he did for a while. James asked him to give him his best poker face. He showed his poker face which looked nothing like a poker face. Bruno gave his poker face by taking off his shades and showed closed eyes.
James Corden said that it was good. The last song of the segment was his song from his new album, “Perm” James also wore a pink silk shirt like Bruno’s and a golden chain. They grooved to the song and danced as much as they could in the car. At the end, James told Bruno that he had never felt more alive. Bruno said that he told him.
