Margot Robbie and David Ayer team up again to make an all-female movie titled Gotham City Sirens

Although it might not have done well critically, DC Comics’ Suicide Squad was a worldwide hit making $745 million. It was praised for various aspects, especially Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn.

Margot played the psychiatrist turned villain Harley Quinn in the movie who was madly in love with the Joker and helped take down the evil Enchantress along with her Suicide Squad members including Deadshot, Killer Croc, El Diablo, Captain Boomerang, Rick Flagg and Katana. David Ayer, the director for the movie, had a huge part to play in making the movie.

That is why he is the director who has been tapped to direct on the next project for DC Comics featuring Margot Robbie once again in her role as Harley Quinn.

Margot will be playing Quinn as a part of an all-female ensemble of Gotham villains aptly titled Gotham City Sirens, according to THR. Robbie is also executive producing.

‘Sirens’ was a recent comic series from DC. It focused on the popular villainesses from Batman’s rogue gallery among which are Quinn; Catwoman, Batman’s sometime love interest; and Poison Ivy, who uses plants and their toxins to get what she wants.

The characters have been played by different actresses over the years in various Batman movies including Michelle Pfeifer and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy. No other confirmations about the rest of the cast have been made.

Currently the characters are all featured in DC Universe TV show Gotham in which Barbara Kean and Tabitha Galavan are currently playing the Sirens. Catwoman and Poison Ivy are also part of the show. It will be interesting to see Ayer’s version of these characters in the movie.
