  • Curing Arthritis Pain could be as Simple as Brushing your Teeth

Apparently, curing crippling arthritis joint pain could be as simple a matter as brushing your teeth regularly. Gum infections cause the disease to become entrenched in the body.

Brushing your teeth can cure arthritis or at least prevent it. Bugs cause gum infections and so that is how the crippling condition develops in the first place, as scientists discovered.

So many lives are made miserable by arthritis all over the world. If it is simply a matter of taking good care of your teeth than why not invest in a little dental hygiene to prevent any future disease.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has been found to be linked with dental health. This was a theory that has been proved to be correct after a long time. It had been doing the rounds.

The bug that causes the infection has a long scientific name. It goes something like: A. actinomycetemcomitans. It causes gum disease and causes the creation of certain proteins that depress immune functioning.

Citrullination which causes these proteins to be formed occurs naturally in human beings. However, in people with RA, the process is taken to an extreme. This inflames and causes immense harm to the tissues.

Patients who had gum disease faced this situation too. Yet half of those who had RA did not have any signs of this infection. Other bacteria in the stomach, lungs or various parts of the body may be responsible for this joint pain.

The research was quite exciting since it was like putting in place the final pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that had taken years to complete. All that effort finally bore fruit.

The evolution of both forms of bacteria in the body, those that cause gum infection and those that cause arthritis, could be tracked. The finding was published in the journal Science Translational Medicine.

Joints become stiff and hurt when you have RA. Over 700,000 individuals in the UK suffer from arthritis. Mainly it is a disease of the senescent. Yet it could also harm the young and middle-aged, according to DailyMail.

The research is the most valid one up until now on such matters. It shows that connections which had been just a hypothesis until now may have an underpinning in reality.
