US Census Bureau offers up facts about Super Bowl LI Cities

Houston, Texas is by far the largest city of the three involved with the big game this weekend

The US Census Bureau has come out with a bunch of facts looking at the cities that will be involved with the Super Bowl this weekend. The little factoids compare the city where the big game will be held - Houston, Texas - and the states where the teams are from- Mass and Georgia. The population of Atlanta, Georgia where the Falcons are from was 463,878 in 2015.

The Atlanta metro area is number nine on the nation's most populous metro areas in 2015. The median household income in the Atlanta metro area is $60,219 which is higher than the national median of $55,775. Median home value in the Atlanta metro area is $186,300. Since this is the Super Bowl and there will be mass quantities of snack foods eaten, the factoids also look at snack food manufacturing establishments as well. In the Atlanta metro area there are 11 breweries, 277 sporting goods stores, and two snack food makers.

Moving to New England, the population of Boston, Mass. in 2015 was 667,137 and despite the significantly higher population of Boston, it ranks right behind Atlanta at number ten on the nation's most populous metro areas. The median household income for the Boston metro area in 2015 was $78,800, significantly higher than the $55,775 national average. Homes cost lots more in New England with the median home value in Boston metro area at $393,300.

Boston comes out on top in the snack food area with eight manufacturers, 30 breweries, and 367 sporting goods stores. Moving to the Super Bowl host city of Houston, Texas its population is 2,296,224 making it 5th on the list for the most populous metro areas in the nation. The median income for the Houston metro area is $61,465 and the median home value is $168,300.

Houston has nine snack food manufacturing establishments. It also has 17 breweries and 254 sporting good stores. Now you have lots of trivia to impress your friends with this weekend during the big game.
