LG's 2017 OLED TV line runs the gamut from basic to very high-end

If OLED TVs cost a lot more than existing LED TVs, why would you want one? This is a question you might be asking yourself and if you aren't that particular about your image quality and are more price sensitive, the answer is you don't want an OLED TV. For those who want the best image quality and get annoyed when their favorite shows and movies look grainy in dark scenes, the OLED TV is the answer.

OLED technology brings much darker blacks and brighter colors than other types of TVs. This means your favorite movies and shows have better quality and you don't see as much grain as you would in darker scenes.

If you are in the market for a new TV and you want to go straight to the OLED realm, LG is the company you want to look at. While many OLED lines start at well over the $2,000 range, LG has two entry level versions that start at under $2,000. That price is right in line with some of the mid to high-end LED TVs that other makers offer. That makes these LG entry-level OLED sets at $1999.99 quite appealing to folks wanting the improved colors, deeper blacks, and brightness that OLED offers.

These entry level models lack the slick thin form factor of some of the high-end OLED TVs and forgo a few of the high-end features like Dolby Atmos, but they are still very appealing. The curved OLED at the starting price even has 3D glasses included and 3D content support integrated. LG doesn't have all the cool high-end features on most of its OLED TVs that other brands offer. For instance all Sony's offerings have this really cool Acoustic Surface Sound tech where the sound comes from behind the screen rather than from speakers connected to the TV or hidden away in a wireless sound bar. That tech is supposed to make voices and other sounds feel like they are coming from where you see the action on screen. I'm not sure that feature alone is worth thousands of dollars more in cost, but it's cool.

The big upside to the LG range of OLED TVs is ease of entry. These TVs are what you could call the budget offerings in the segment with prices starting at $1999.99, no other line of OLED TVs comes close to that entry level. That said, if you are shopping in the high-end of the market other brands do have some cool and appealing features that you won't find from LG.
