  • The Super Laser used in the Movie Series Star Wars may become a Reality Soon

Apparently it looks like the super laser used in the movie series Star Wars may become a reality soon.

Laser power may be increased using diamond. This shows that the Star Wars movie series super laser may not be a sci-fi concept any longer. The research on the matter shows that the Star Wars Death Star sci-fi laser, which had many lasers combine into one very strong laser, may become a real-life tool soon.

This laser has many applications, the biggest of which is in the field of defense. Combat danger may be offset using this highly sophisticated weapon of choice. Drones and missile technology will be met with this fierce laser of the future.

Also it has applications in outer space ventures. It will be used to power space vehicles and destroy and vaporize junk in space. A very pure diamond crystal is positioned at the point of convergence and the bean combining is allowed to happen. This is via a cooperation with the crystal.

This setup avoids the distortion issues that besets single beam lasers. Most laser technologies face the problem of increasing the potency of laser beams beyond a certain point. Heat builds up and thus blows away the plans for a stronger laser into smithereens. This new technique shows promise though.

Diamond beam combining is something which has hardly been tried before. So it is a new alternative and a route that just might deliver a dose of success.

The laser beam will be very intense and focused. Nothing like this has been tried before and it will probably result in a one-of-kind invention that outdoes the rest of the technological toys in existence. The process also changes the color of the laser beam.

The laser is thankfully not a health hazard for any surrounding humans or animals. It does not damage the eyesight either. It is the choice of using a diamond crystal which makes this laser so potent and powerful in the first place.

The research is published in Laser and Photonics Reviews.
