Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana have reportedly called it quits and these are 5 facts you need to know about their split

Janet Jackson married Qatar born millionaire merchant Wissam Al Mana back in 2013. The couple remained married for almost five years until it was reported just yesterday that they have called quits on their marriage. Here are five facts you need to know about Janet and Wissam’s divorce.

Whirlwind Romance

Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana met each other in a hotel in Dubai in 2010. The two immediately hit it off and even went for a private holiday where their romance blossomed. After about two years of dating, they were engaged and tied the knot soon after in a private, intimate wedding. Wissam also wrote an ode to Janet on his official website in which he thanked her writing, ‘for your divine love, your eternal support and for being my best friend’. Janet also seemed smitten with Al Mana who is 8 years younger than her. She said that she felt like he is the right one.

Jackson Clan-Not All In

According to some sources, not all of Janet Jackson’s family were in favor of Janet marrying Al Mana. They were vocal about not accepting Al Mana wholeheartedly into the family and matters did not improve when they married in a very private ceremony in which family members were left out. Janet’s younger sister La Toya said that she had not been told that Janet was married until she found out on the social media.

Introversion Constraint

Al Mana has been perceived as a religious man and while many believe that he might influenced Janet to convert to Islam, it was actually his introvert tendencies that became a problem for the couple. After being married to him, Janet has toned down on her provocative, sex symbol persona for a more modest attire and style. Fans were led to believe that Janet was in preparation of converting to Islam which explained her modest makeover. More than that however, Al Mana insisted on keeping their lives private. He does not interact on social media and he does not like to step out of his home in the public eye. Janet felt restrained by Al Mana’s preferred lifestyle and struggled to stay away from the life she had grown up in.

Motherhood

Janet gave birth to her first child earlier this year at 50 years of age, making her the oldest celebrity to deliver a child. However, it was reported that Al Mana and Janet clashed on parenting styles for their son, Eissa. While Janet wanted a more hands-on motherly approach, Al Mana insisted on having a staff tend to Janet and Eissa’s needs and insisted that Janet did not leave the baby. Meanwhile, Janet was also handling supporting her struggling mother who had come to visit and seek refuge from an ongoing case. Al Mana reportedly show little to no concern towards Katherine Jackson which is when Janet supposedly made the decision to split because family is important to her.

Amicable Divorce

The divorce which has not reportedly been filed for yet is said to be amicable. Both parties decided to remain friendly and amicable towards each other and decided to remain co-parents to Eissa. Janet is reportedly planning on settling in London where Eissa will remain with her. Janet is also reportedly likely to inherit a large amount of money as divorce settlement.
