Selena Gomez joins 13 Reasons Why cast members Tommy Dorfman and Alisha Boe to get matching semicolon tattoos

Selena Gomez served as the executive producer on the show, 13 Reasons Why. The show premiered on Netflix last week to a great response and Selena has been over the moon.

The actress/singer was very excited while promoting the project during her social appearances and her social media. Based on the book by Jay Asher, the series revolves around a high school girls Hannah Baker’s suicide and the taped messages she left for her classmates in high school which find their way to Clay Jensen.

In lieu of the show’s success, Selena was spotted with two members of the cast. Tommy Dorfman, who plays Ryan, and Alisha Boe, who plays Jessica on the show accompanied Selena to a tattoo parlor in L.A. to get matching tattoos. The trio went for a semicolon on their wrists which signifies a strong message. The tattoos were in support of the Semicolon Project. A mental health care nonprofit which Dorfman supports.

The semicolon is meant to represent the end of one thought and the beginning of another. It is also significant for the 13 Reasons Why’s premise as a young teenage girl is driven to take her life due to mental pressure she faces.

Dorfman was vocal about his own fight with depression and addiction. He admitted that he given up many times and didn’t expect to live past 21. He said that he was grateful to be alive and that he would make it his goal to help others who were going through the same struggle.

Selena also posted pictures from their time out on her Instagram. She wrote in the caption that she wished that other cast members were there as well. She thanked everyone who had watched and talked about the message of the show. Alisha Boe also posted a picture of their matching tattoos on Instagram and explained the purpose of the cause and a shout out to all who needed help.
