MegaBots wins Best Startup at LAUNCH Festival 2017

Giant robot guys are now a Silicon Valley approved startup.

MegaBots just won Best Startup at LAUNCH Festival 2017. The Silicon Valley investor judges decided that, out of the more than 100 startups competing, the idea a Giant Fighting Robot Sports League had the biggest potential market, could generate the most revenue, and could be most successful.

One major reason for winning the Launch Festival was the great pitch by MegaBots CEO Gui Cavalcanti. He blew everyone away with his enthusiasm and authenticity. MegaBots is not just a crazy idea anymore. The startup not only got seed funding, but also generates already revenue through appearances of its giant robot and merchandise sales. The award at the Launch festival confirms that the MegaBots team able to execute on this crazy idea and actually make it happen.

As announced last week, the long awaited first Giant robot fight will take place in August. Watch below the great MegaBots pitch and the judges reactions to the company at the Launch Festival 2017.

The MegaBots Mk.III has only been seen in pieces thus far. The Mk.III upper body can be seen picking up a car here, and a previous video showed MegaBots team members joyriding on the Mk.III tank tread base. An upcoming video will unveil the final assembled robot.

The public will have a chance to see the completed Mk.III MegaBot live in the San Francisco Bay Area in May before it goes to the Duel. We will be revealing that debut information in another announcement soon.

Fans can expect to learn more about the Duel, the robots that are fighting in it, and the teams as more information becomes public in the next few months.

There are no details yet about Suidobashi Heavy Industry or the KURATAS robot. MegaBots is sharing updates of the construction of MegaBots Mk.III, but the Japanese opponent has been quite about their efforts.
