Final Fantasy best played on the Nintendo Switch?

If you can read between the lines and look deeper into comments, Square Enix CEO Yoshihisa Matsuda has said some really interesting things lately. WWG had been digging between the lines and looking an interview with the Nikkei where Matsuda said that Square Enix would focus almost solely on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. This caused them to double take considering all the promises of Project Scorpio.

When Matsuda said this, there were a few things he could have been referencing. One is that Square Enix produces some of the best RPGs available on any console. However, the other part is what caught the attention of fans at WWG - the fact that the Nintendo Switch console could be the best way to play Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest.

According to Nintendo Everything, here's what he said that tipped them off:

“Our developers with a strong interest in the Switch are eager to challenge themselves to find new ways for people to play games. Having more gaming platforms available is a good thing for us. I really want the Switch to succeed. We’ll be develop(ing) new titles, and we’d like to port existing titles that the Switch can support often as we can. Nintendo creates a variety of new gameplay possibilities. I think other companies will come up with some surprising gimmicks using the Switch’s unique capabilities. We have our own way of doing things, so we’ll be marrying the Switch’s unique features to the kinds of games we’re known for.”

This means that if you want to get the absolute best Final Fantasy gaming experience, you'll want to get yourself a Nintendo Switch. It also means that the Dragon Quest collections could shine brightest on the Switch. There hasn't been an official announcement yet of course, but it all looks like it could be happening very, very soon. We might have to wait until E3 2017 to get an official announcement from anyone about the collaboration and any future games.
