New York Auto Show 2017: Ford Reveals First Pursuit-Rated Hybrid Police Car
  • Ford reveals industry’s first pursuit-rated hybrid police car in New York and Los Angeles

The first ever electric hot per suite car in hybrid powertrain is available now by Ford. All-new Police Responder Hybrid Sedan will potentially save customers thousands in fuel costs.

Ford is working pretty hard to be on the top spot for making electric cars in various varieties. The company just announced that it will be making 13 new vehicles which will be launched shortly as well. These vehicle will be produced after the investment of $4.5 billion.

The cars will be produced in the next five years. These will include an F-150 Hybrid, Mustang Hybrid, Transit Custom Plug-in hybrid, a self-driving hybrid, and fully electric small SUV which will have a range of 300 miles. It looks like Ford has a lot of thing in store for the people to come.

“Electrifying our next generation of vehicles is core to our unwavering commitment to sustainability,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, The Americas.

“By being a leader in electrified vehicles, we remain committed to delivering cars, trucks and SUVs that are better not only for our customers, but for the environment and society as well.”

Ford also revealed an industrial pursuit-rated hybrid car as well. The hybrid car will be used by Police of New York and Los Angeles. This new hybrid sedan is supposed to save hundreds of dollars on fuel and will have the efficiency of a traditional engine car.

According to a new survey by Ford, around 50 percent of the millennials say that they are more interested in buying an electric car. This is the reason that Ford in focusing pretty hard on making greater part of electric cars in the near future. The company is planning to introduce more hybrids, plug in hybrids, totally electrified vehicles as compared to gasoline powered cars.

The new trend is also suggesting that electrified models will be the next famous thing in the future. The Police hybrid car will use a 2.0 liter engine with an electric motor which will be powered by latest lithium-ion battery. The car will have the ability to run on battery up to 60mph thus saving a lot of fuel. It will arrive in market in two years’ time.

“Our mission to create safe and healthy communities in Los Angeles is achieved through sustainable approaches in community policing, and that includes embracing new technologies,” said Charlie Beck, Los Angeles Police Department Chief.

“Patrol vehicles are a police officer’s office, and we expect them to not only be economically and environmentally efficient, but also an effective tool for fighting crime in major metropolitan areas.”

“Innovative services can be as important to customers as the electric vehicles themselves,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford group vice president, purchasing, and the company’s electrification champion.

“We are investing in solutions to help private customers as well as commercial fleet owners seamlessly incorporate these new vehicles and technologies into their lives.”

The Police Responder Hybrid Sedan can be ordered this spring and will be delivered to police departments nationwide next summer.
