7 TV Shows Set to Premiere This April

While many shows are starting their next season, many are getting cancelled and many shows are ending this April, there are shows that will be making their debut with their season premiere on American television. Here are the shows that will be airing their season premieres and in some cases, the whole first seasons this April:

1. The White Princess

The White Princess will air its season premiere on 17th April on US network Starz. An American-British television series is based on the novel of the same name by Phillipa Gregory and it is the sequel to BBC miniseries The White Queen which aired in 2013. The show premise is based on the marriage of Elizabeth of York and Henry VII. The marriage brings stability to the kingdom but the rift between the two individuals threaten to tear the fabric of the monarchy apart.

2. Famous in Love

Bella Throne makes her return to TV in this glamorous Hollywood inspired tale of a young actress who gets the part thousands would kill for. She soon finds out the price she had to pay for fame and the life that exists behind the camera. The show is set to premiere of Free form on April 18.

3. Girlboss

What would we do without Netflix? Netflix is set to premiere its original new show Girlboss inspired by Sophia Amoruso's best-selling book. The story follows the journey of Sophia played by Britt Robertson a rebellious, broke anarchist whose initial business of selling vintage clothes online starts to fail causing her to start her own retail fashion empire. The series is quick, witty and straight in your face with likes of Charlize Theron Kay Cannon, and Sophia Amoruso serving as executive producers. The show’s first season will premiere on 21st March on Netflix.

4. Genius

Take a step back into Einstein’s world as this National Geographic re-imagining of Einstein’s life from his days as a patent clerk who could not get a teacher’s job or even a doctorate in his earlier life goes on to present the theory of relativity. With John Flynn and Geoffrey Rush playing the iconic genius, watch this gripping tale which is set to premiere on 26th April.

5. The Handmaid's Tale

Based on the novel by Margeret Atwood, this new TV series is set in a near future dystopia of Gilead reigned by a totalitarian regime facing environmental issues and plunging birthrate. The story is based on the character Offred who is a Handmaid, a sexual servant to the Commander and whose purpose is to repopulate the world. Navigating through Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids, Offred seeks her lost daughter. The series is set to premiere on Hulu on 27th April.

6. Dear White People

Netflix strikes again with a new quirky and modern tale about a diverse group of students enrolled in a white dominant Ivy League college where they navigate their everyday lives through various forms of racial and other types of discrimination. The show’s first season will premiere on Netflix on 28th April.

7. American Gods

Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name, the show follows the Shadow Man who is released from his prison sentence to find that his wife has passed away and he is recruited into an ongoing battle between the old gods and the new gods. The show is set to premiere on Starz on April 30th.
