Family Love
Kendrick pays tribute to his family throughout his 14 tracks. He gives shout-outs to his parents, his fiancée, his auntie and his cousins. He feels very blessed to have them in his life.

His Insecurities
It takes a very sound artist who can address his fears and his doubts in his lyrics. Kendrick is no stranger to putting his grievances and his ultimate fears in his songs. In his song, ‘Fear’, he raps about the money problems and how he had tough time spending it because his days when he had no money echo on oh his present.

In the song “Feel”, he raps about who has his back out there in the world and whether he is all alone. In ‘Humble’, he reminisces about his old day and ‘DNA’ in which he raps about having nowhere to go and getting his ass whooped.

Loving his Girl
Kendrick also paid a tribute to his high school sweetheart and fiancée Whitney Alford in his single “Love” in which he tells her that he loves her so much that he had to do it referring to their engagement.

Rihanna’s Mix
Fans would be glad to hear the much loved and familiar voice of Rihanna on his single, “Loyalty”. The lyrics are about who around the star is loyal to him and it is not the most lyrically revering song in the album but Rihanna singing on it makes it one of the favorites.

Ain’t Afraid to Take It There
Kendrick Lamar is a name synonymous with commentary on what has passed or what is happening. His lyrics were a breath of fresh air when his first album debuted because the lyrics addressed true things happening around him. In his track “XXX” which U2 assisted him on, he raps about a friend who came to him for advice when his son was killed for insufficient funds.

Lamar’s lyrics say bluntly that he would shoot his son’s killer and face the law for the sake of his family. It resonates with so many people that it makes your heart drop as you hear Kendrick’s passion poured through his voice.

In the final track “Duckworth” Kendrick achieves the same result as he raps about two people, Anthony and Ducky. Kendrick raps about how their lives changed in an incident and Kendrick’s life changed as a consequence of that incident.

Album Selling Strategy
With the modern age streaming music trends, Kendrick Lamar is changing his music selling strategy by releasing physical copies of DAMN. He is also giving rights to certain streaming services but he wants the revenue from both. This was also recently done by Adele for her Grammy winning album, 25.
