In-Display Touch ID, 4mm Bezels, and Invisible front camera to feature in iPhone 8

iPhone 8 has been rumored to be packing the most advanced set of features in a smartphone in 2017. Yes, that is good to hear, but what are those features? According to a recent report by idropnews, In-Display Touch ID, almost negligible bezels and an under-screen front camera are claimed to be some of those features. The report surfaced today, states that two configurations of Apple’s Touch ID sensor are in testing phase.

Some of the earlier leaks claimed that Apple will move the Touch ID scanner at the back of the phone, but this report has now suggested that Apple will be trying-out both the options: iPhone 8 with a fingerprint sensor on the back and iPhone 8 with fingerprint scanner integrated inside the display.

Don’t be very sure of the news just yet, even if this report is authentic, Apple is infamous for prototyping innovative technologies while many of those technologies never get to production phase due to various problems.

Apple usually takes the trial and error approach when it comes to designing the new models, which means that some of the technology gets to be debuted while others wait for a year or two to get reliable enough to be featured in an iPhone model.

The report cited a number of Foxconn’s connections, and said that both the prototypes have produced some benefits and drawbacks. The report continued to claim that the In-Display Touch ID scanner is what Apple will most probably opt for. Currently, it’s impossible to decide what’s going to happen and what not.

US Patent office has published plenty of Apple’s patents that describe a comprehensive way of embedding the Touch ID sensor inside the display screen. But recently we also witnessed schematics showing a Touch ID sensor present at the back of an iPhone. What will be coming out in the end, only time can tell.
