Samsung Galaxy S8 Smartphones with Tinted Screens Anger Users

Samsung says fix red tint in the menus, owners say you can't

Samsung can't afford issues with its new Galaxy S8 smartphone when it is coming off the massive recalls of the Note 7 when it launched. What Samsung needed was a smooth and trouble free launch to erase any memory of its Note 7 from users around the world. While the Galaxy S8 launches globally this Friday, some South Koreans already have the smartphones in their possession and there are issues with the device reports CNET.

Some South Koreans who pre-ordered the smartphone and have already received their orders are reporting that the displays on some of the smartphones have a red tint to the screen. Samsung is saying that the red tint isn't a quality issue and that users can fix the tint in the settings menu of the smartphone.

However, reports are going around with many S8 owners claiming that they are unable to fix the red tint in the smartphone menus. The Galaxy S8 is the first smartphone to use "Deep Red" OLED technology that analyst Neil Shah from Counterpoint Research says can make whites look reddish and the analyst says the problem is a software calibration issue.

Samsung is under the microscope and while the reddish tint on South Korean devices is worrisome for users, the pre-orders for the device have been huge. Samsung has seen stronger pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 than it did for the S7 and S7 Edge last year.
