  • Thief Tracked Down after he Stole a Hundred Smartphones at Coachella

A thief was tracked down and arrested after he stole a hundred smartphones at Coachella.

Coachella is always a fun place where you can expect the unexpected. The event is full of such things happening which surprise, shock and send you into a tailspin of the senses.

This year’s main event was a negative one though although it ended on a positive note. A man from New York was arrested after he was found to have stolen over a hundred smartphones from the music lovers at the concert.

It was a strange and surreal crime this dude committed. Named Reinaldo De Jesus Henao, he is 36 years old and was caught red-handed after several people activated the “Find My Phone” feature.

Sure enough, the signals pointed in the direction of this man who was guilty of the crime. The concerted effort of finding the lost smartphones took several days and required the cooperation of the police.

The authorities were finally able to catch this thief and bring him before the law to face the consequences of his wrongdoing, according to LATimes.

The police sergeant noted that many of the smartphones were stolen from the Sahara tent near Coachella. This raised his suspicions of a single person being responsible for the criminal acts of theft.

Although the police department decided to deploy surveillance equipment around the tent, it did not help much in the way of catching the thief.

It was only when the music lovers started using their special “Find My Phone” feature that they noticed that a dot moved on the screen which led to a single person in the tent.

The police were soon alerted and they searched the tent and came upon the man who had perpetrated the act of nicking over a hundred smartphones.

He was detained and is currently facing charges of theft and pickpocketing behavior. Smartphones are lost by the hundreds due to petty thefts by individuals each year at Coachella.

Yet thanks to this special feature, many of the owners of these smartphones can finally heave a sigh of relief. All in all 130 phones were retrieved from the backpack this thief had with him.

He had thought to himself that he would make a tidy profit from his short-cut efforts. Yet his plans were foiled by the police authorities and advanced technology possessed by some of the smartphone owners. The smartphones were returned to their rightful owners and it is a case of all being well that ends well.
