Top 5 performance on Disney Night at Dancing with the Stars

The 5 best performances on Disney Night on Dancing with the Stars including a nearly perfect performance

Disney Night has become a Dancing with the Stars tradition. Every season, the contestants embrace a Disney character and theme and incorporate it with a ballroom dancing style to bring a fresh and unique flair to the show and every year some of the contestants and their partners manage to wow the judges, the audience and the viewers at home. The Disney Night was celebrated again last night on the show’s 24th season and here are the top 5 performances from the show.

Nick Viall and Peta Murgatroyd(34/40)
Something finally ticked for Nick Viall. The Bachelor alum has been lingering at the bottom of the scoreboard and it was hinted that his overt sexiness might be the weakness in Nick’s performance. So they really embraced the spirit of the Disney night and decided to perform on Pinocchio’s“I’ve Got No Strings” sung by Dickie Jones. Nick playing Pinocchio while Peta played Jiminy Cricket danced Jazz and it struck with the crowd for being playful and childish, bringing a smile to all their faces and got Nick and Peta their best score of the season.

Heather Morris and Alan Bersten(34/40)
So, Disney Night was an exciting prospect for Glee alum Heather Morris especially when she found out that she would be performing Jazz on Frozen. While MakChmerkovskiy was not going to be dancing for the episode, Alan Bersten was happy to fill in and they rehearsed for a new life Maks had come up with. They performed their Jazz number on the original soundtrack “From the First Time in Forever” by Kristen Bell alongwith the whole iconic Frozen snow theme light show and everyone was on their feet at the end. The performance had the judges split in their comments and the couple ended up with a 34 at the end.

Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev (36/40)
Also dancing Jazz were Nancy and Artem to “How Does She Know” from the movie Enchanted. Nancy was feeling out of her depth and Artem had to assure her that she was doing well over and over again. When they finally hit the dancefloor, Nancy seemed to be in her element as she performed the whole routine beautifully with the props and background performers. The judges were very happy with the whole performance and they ended up giving 9 each to the couple bringing their score up to a total 36.

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber (38/40)
Everyone would think that Olympic Gold winner, Simone Biles might be used to pressure but she expressed that she was feeling the nerves dancing with Sasha. She said that she felt like Sasha was too intense and they both decided to take a breather as they prepared to perform the Oscar nominated song “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana sung live by Auli’ICravalhio. The contemporary routine looked like it was tailor-made for Simone. The gymnast did flips and lifts like she had been doing them in sleep and it left the audience and the judges awestruck just how effortlessly Simone and Sasha performed the whole routine. The judges all agreed in their comments that the choreography by Sasha was amazing and Simone had performed it beautifully and it earned them two 10s from the judges.

Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy(39/40)
An almost perfect performance from the Fifth Harmony member came on the back of a compassionate and aggressive Paso Doble to “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulanperformed live by Donny Osmond. The duo embraced the Mulan theme and incorporated martial arts moves into their Paso Doble making it something truly extraordinary to watch. It was called perfection by the judges and earned them almost perfect score of 39 from the judges.

It was another night to remember in the show and it will surely go down in the Dancing with the Stars archives for some of the best performances put out there.
