5 Hints We Have Picked From Gotham Spring Trailer
  • Gotham Spring Trailer: 5 Facts to Know

The new midseason trailer for Gotham has given us the premise for bigger and greater things to come in the remaining Season 3 of the show

The promo for the midseason trailer of Gotham was released most recently and other than the fact that the trailer looks amazing, there are so many hints about what we can expect from the rest of the season which is subtitled “Heroes Rise”. It is already a shining prospect because till now Gotham has been dominated by the villains. The entire second season was titled Rise of the Villains and it did not disappoint so hopefully the rise of the heroes will not disappoint either. So among the hints that were dropped in the new trailer, we have selected 5 that should receive special attention.

Nygma’s Rise to Power
We saw Edward Nygma get even with Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin for murdering his one true love. Taking down his empire, his mind and his morale with the help of the Sirens Barbara Keane and Tabitha Galavan for a share in running the city. Nygma decided that he could thrive without Penguin and sufficed with a shot in the chest and a shove. The return of the season will focus on Nygma’s rise as The Riddler. He opens this midseason trailer with Nygma questioning who rules Gotham. This indicated that Nygma will take charge and we will see how and how he will resolve his partnership with Barbara and Tabitha as they seem to be struggling with some of their own problems.

Selina Kyle’s Catwoman Reference
Until now, Carmen Bicondova’s Selina Kyle has been a positive influence on Bruce Wayne. The character has been portrayed as a good person who is willing to look the other way to survive but her moral compass is in the right place. We know that Selina and Bruce recently had a fallout in the show’s storyline and we can expect Selina to be going through a dark time. So, it is exciting to see Selina lying on the floor like she might have fell out of or pushed out of a window and black cat lingering over her. This is a reference from Batman Returns Michelle Pfeifer Catwoman and even Halle Berry’s Catwoman origin story and it is so awesome to anticipate that Selina might finally be turning into Catwoman. Whether she is a hero or a villain remains to be determined.

Executioner or Bane
Nathaniel Barnes was the torch bearer of justice for a while for the majority of the second season and the third until he was infected by Alice Thetch’s blood. He was already on the brink of questioning justice and Alice’s blood turned him into The Executioner. Now, while the Executioner was a small villain in the Dark Knight comics, there is one villain who is bigger and better. Bane. The big baddie who set the plot for The Dark Knight Rises and impressed us all by breaking Batman, so great. Why are we talking about Bane, you ask? Well, the glimpses of Barnes we are given in the trailer is in chains and a face mask which is very much like Bane’s. Barnes and Bane, kind of exciting to think about. Sheer force that Barnes has already shown sets him up as Bane.

Return of the Villains
While it may not be the subtitle for the remaining third season but there are so many villains that are shown in the trailer that we can call it that. The trailer features a number of villains that have been introduced previously including Court of Owls, Executioner, Doppleganger Wayne, Dr. Hugo Strange, Fish Mooney, Poison Ivy, Firefly, Mr. Freeze, the Sirens, Thetch and until this trailer, Dr. Lee Thompkins looks a little different as well. Could she be a villain in making? We will have to wait and see.

Origin Story - Caped Crusader
We have been waiting so very anxiously to see Bruce Wayne finally becoming Batman. In the trailer, in a somewhat disoriented manner, we see Bruce in an isolated place in white clothes, accompanied by Alfred on some expedition in snowy mountains and on other times on the street and we are forced to consider, if some of the scenes are of Doppleganger Wayne who was declared ready for action by Court of Owls. Frank Gordon is seen telling him that he had been preparing Bruce or Other Bruce for this day. Meanwhile Bruce Wayne makes a declaration of his own. He says that if it is his destiny, he wants to embrace it.

Is that the start of Bruce Wayne turning into the Dark Knight?

We will have to wait and see in the upcoming Gotham: Heroes Rise as it returns to FOX next week.
