There are 10 days left in April. The chances that there will be one last big wave of NES Classic stock are slim.
Nintendo created hope that there will be more NES Classic stock available in April when the company announced to discontinue the NES Classic Edition. There are no signs that there will be more NES Classic consoles arriving at retailers from Nintendo this month.
The official Nintendo statement released last week said: "Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System for this year." The statement should not be taken word by word as indicated by the end of the sentence. The NES Classic production has ended not just for this year. Nintendo will not restart the NES Classic production in 2018 for some weird reason.
Based on our research no store domestic or international received new NES Classic inventory since the announcement of the end of the NES Classic a week ago. The only shop that continues to offer the NES Classic on a daily basis is Amazon's local delivery service. Amazon is though doing this since weeks.
Amazon has likely held back NES Classic stock to promote Amazon Prime Now. There are only a few cities each day that the service offers the NES Classic. All other stores are dry.
We would be very surprised if Nintendo is still delivering another NES Classic shipment before the end of April. Consumers who have not gotten their hands on a NES Classic need to get used to the idea that they never will at the $59.99 regular price. Resellers are charging around $300 for a new NES Classic on market places.
Nintendo is likely coming back this Holiday season with a new release of the Super NES from the 90s. This might comfort some retro video game fans. In the meantime gamers can explore the Raspberry Pi NES project or just put a lid on the past and get a Nintendo Switch and play today's games.
We keep monitoring the NES Classic supply situation and update the Nintendo NES Classic tracker for Amazon Prime Now until the end of the month.
