Most people think of Nintendo as a company that focuses on making some of the best video games across the board - their style ranges from forward thinking and innovative to retro and nostalgic. However, the next step that the company is taking might just make it even more retro than before.

According to Toy News, USAopoly is pairing with Nintendo to create a Super Mario board game.

While we don't have many details about the game yet, they are already changing up how we think of board games. Instead of the traditional style that boasts a flat board and tokens, Super Mario Level Up! will have a 3D board that players need to "climb" to get them into the Mushroom Kingdom.

You will be able to play as one of your favorite Mario characters and do some of the same things you are used to doing in the video game, including collect points, gain power-ups, and trash talk your friends as you play. This is a great game to have around in case not everyone can play the video game. It's also a fantastic way to introduce the characters to a younger generation.

There hasn't been a confirmed release date, but it is reported that the game is "coming soon" to at least North America. Nothing has been said about other parts of the world yet.

The game is expected to retail for about $20. What other Nintendo games would you like to see as a board game?
