Best Buy stores restock the Nintendo NES Classic Edition on Monday, April 24. Updated.

The lines for the NES Classic Edition sales event at Best Buy stores on Monday, April 24 have started as early as Sunday. Whispers about Best Buy restocking the Nintendo NES Classic Edition on Monday appeared over the weekend. Best Buy made things official late Sunday with a Tweet announcing the NES Classic event.


11am ET: The NES Classic Edition sale at Best Buy stores is almost history. At most locations across the United States the NES Classic has sold out or Best Buy employees handed out tickets for stores that are not open yet. There is always a chance that Best Buy sells the NES Classic online at as well on such ticketed events.

If indeed the Best Buy online store got some NES Classic stock, it will be sold after 10am ET. Tickets on the east coast Best Buy locations are handed out for the most part by now. 8am ET: Best Buy stores handing out tickets to people waiting in line at around 7:30 local time. The highest inventory of NES Classic we have seen so far is 20. Lots of stores have though way less than that. Some locations have 5 and we also got confirmation that some stores have no NES Classic at all today.

7am ET: First Best Buy stores have started to hand out tickets to people waiting in line. Line length varies dramatically from 1 to over 30, depending on store location. Lining up at East Coast Best Buy locations now is likely already to late.

4am ET: Some lines are reported to already be 30 deep at 4am ET. The big run will be around 5am local time. The likely maximum number of NES Classic in stock we have seen is 16. There are apparently enough people that do not have to be at work or in class at 10am on a Monday.

Some Best Buy stores have handed out tickets for the NES Classic already on Sunday. Shoppers in line at Best Buy stores now across the Nation might already be out of luck as all tickets for the NES Classic might have already been distributed.

Most Best Buy stores will hand out the tickets this morning. Tickets for the NES Classic Edition will likely be distributed to the first people in line ahead of the store opening. Most Best Buy locations open at 10am local time.

The NES Classic inventory will be extremely limited. Additionally not all Best Buy location will have the NES Classic in stock. As of 2am ET the lines for the NES Classic at Best Buy stores are in general still short. This will change in a couple of hours.

A leaked screenshot on reddit of the Best Buy inventory system suggests that there are 16 NES Classic consoles at most at a Best Buy store location. Other stores in the list only have 7 consoles in stock. This means if you are 17th in line your are very likely not getting a ticket for the NES Classic.

The Best Buy NES Classic event is the last time Best Buy will offer the NES Classic. Nintendo has announced to discontinue the NES Classic last week and said that the last shipments arrive this month at US retailer.

As the NES Classic can fetch $300 on the reseller market, the scalpers will be out in droves. The competition for a $59.99 NES Classic at Best Buy this morning will be fierce.

The 80s retro console launched on November 11, 2016. As of December 31, 2016, Nintendo has sold 1.5 million NES Classic Edition. New official NES Classic sales numbers for 2017 are expected to be released on April 27. Nintendo announced the end of the NES Classic on April 14.
