Scientists seem to have finally answered the question why some people face constant fatigue no matter how much they sleep each night.

When anyone is simply exhausted, the first advice given by well-wishers is to get some rest by sleeping off the tiredness and fatigue. They say that there is nothing that sleep cannot cure.

Sleep is a great blessing and a restorative agent that refreshes and rejuvenates both body and mind. Some people nod off during the lunch hour at work and others cannot get enough rest at night due to the newborn baby crying on a constants basis.

Yet, hard as it is to believe, there are so many who get 7 hours of sleep but do not feel rested. So what gives?

Well, there are a number of reasons why even getting your full doze of Z’s is not enough to stave off those droopy eyelids and constant yawning not to mention bone tiredness.

For one thing, many people are just couch potatoes and spend their entire day seated or lying down. By exercising, even in a minimalist manner, we feel energized throughout the course of the day. Exercise keeps us on our toes.

Chances are that people who engage in vigorous exercise, sleep much better than our sedentary population. The second issue is called the caffeine fix. Caffeine blocks adenosine which is a neurotransmitter that normally makes us sleepy in the evening.

Even for those who have a cup of coffee, six hours before bedtime, going to sleep becomes a difficult job. Also caffeine wreaks havoc with our circadian rhythms.

Finally, a third point besides the exercise and caffeine connection is that of mental health. For those with generalized anxiety disorder, fatigue is a byproduct.

High stress levels and worrying constantly will leave you in a distraught and exhausted state. Depression also causes insomnia which leaves many unable to sleep well.

Besides these, physical ailments such as diabetes, iron deficiency and thyroid issues all cause fatigue in the long run. For some people there is no quick fix to ease their tiredness.

They may actually just have to face the truth head on that they were not built to be an active and energetic member of the successful executive lot that thrives on a 9 to 5 job schedule.
