NES Classic Edition Sold Out Officially At Nintendo Store, But Other Stores Have Still Stock

The Nintendo NES Classic is sold out at the Nintendo Flagship store in New York.

The Nintendo store in New York at the Rockefeller Plaza has been a solid option to find a NES Classic in stock in past weeks. Almost each day the store was restocking the NES Classic in numbers up to 100 units. The store has imposed strict rules on how often customers could buy a NES Classic, making it the store a difficult source for scalpers.

On Thursday was the last NES Classic sale at the Nintendo Store. The store has confirmed on Twitter that there will be no more NES Classic Edition stock available at the store. The store tweeted: "As of 4/27/17 the NES Classic Edition system will no longer be available for purchase at #NintendoNYC."

While the Nintendo Store is now out of the list of stores offering the NES Classic Edition, there are other stores that still carry the coveted NES Classic Edition. Target and Walmart stores have received nes NES Classic inventory in the past two days. This morning over 175 Walmart stores and 95 Target stores are flagged by NES Classic stock trackers.

Also Amazon Prime Now is still offering the NES Classic Edition. The number of available NES Classic through Amazon's local delivery service are though very low. Only New York and Dallas had briefly the option to order the NES Classic in the past 24 hours.

Reseller prices for the NES Classic dropped from $300 to around $280 as new NES Classic stock is coming in. The lowest priced Nintendo NES Classic console sells for $279.68 plus shipping on amazon.com.

The $59.99 Nintendo NES Classic Edition console launched on November 11 in stores and online. The supply was extremely constraint in stores and especially online. On April 13, Nintendo announced to stop production of the NES Classic Edition. The last shipments of the NES Classic arrive through April.

The palm-sized NES console, retailing for $59.99 list price, features the classic Nintendo NES controller many geeks have grown up with. The retro console comes pre-installed with 30 classic NES games including Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man, Metroid, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Kirby's Adventures. The NES Classic Edition system is a miniaturized version of the groundbreaking NES, originally released in 1985.

The ability to mod the NES Classic and install an unlimited number of games has renewed the hype around the retro console. The latest hack enables the NES Classic to store 2,500 games.
