South Korean consumer electronics maker LG Electronics plans to release a smaller version of the LG G6.

The LG G6, announced at the MWC 2017, is getting a smaller brother. Small is relative though in this case. According to internal documents received by Technobuffalo (via LetsGoDigital), the new LG G6 mini will have a 5.4" screen with a screen-to-body ratio just under 80%. The LG G6 has a 5.7" screen. The LG G6 mini's screen is only 0.3" smaller. The display will also have the 18:9 aspect ratio first introduced by the G6.

The smaller LG G6 might be smaller in some other sense, dropping features. The leaked document is not shading light on the feature set of the LG G6 mini.

There are no details available on when and in what markets the LG G6 mini will be released. The leaked document might also just be about an option LG thought about, but is not following through.

LG is far behind its South Korean rival Samsung. While the Samsung Galaxy smartphones dominate the Android segment, LG struggles to stay relevant. The LG G6 is a powerful and advances smartphone, but it is not a leapfrog that is needed to challenge Samsung.
