The top 20 looks that turn everyone’s head and made us believe in the art of in between with the Comme des Garçons theme

The Met Gala 2017 finally took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The event’s theme celebrated the 74 years old Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo and her label Comme des Garçons. Celebrities, models, designers and socialites descended on the red carpet of the invitation-only event and while many looked dazzling in their flowy gowns and dapper suits, the objective was to embody the essence of Rei Kawakubo and her label Comme des Garçons -The Art of In-between. Among the throngs of attendees, the following twenty seemed to have grasped what the theme was and embodied it with their style on the red carpet.

1. Katy Perry
As the co-chair at this year’s Met Gala, all eyes were on Katy Perry to bring out the something unexpected and she did not disappoint. The 30-year-old singer walked the red carpet in a red, Maison Margiela outfit which was a composite of red pieces and fabric draped over her including a veil through which her striking cropped blonde hair shone like a beacon.

2. Rihanna
Badgirl RiRi went straight for the jugular and dressed in an original Comme des Garçons dress. With exaggerated floral design in protruding petal shapes covering her torso, Rihanna complimented her look with ‘Rihanna Loves Chopard’ jewelry, a high bun and thigh high, lace stilettos in matching hot pink color.

3. Tracee Ellis Ross
The Black-ish Emmy winning actress also went to the source for her moment on the Met Gala red carpet. Ross wore a blue original Comme de Garçons blue dress with misshaped line and a high collar. She complimented the look with nude makeup and silver heels.

4. Priyanka Chopra
One of the most surprising presence on this Met Gala was Quantico star, Priyanka Chopra. The bombshell beauty gave her own spin to the Comme de Garçons theme with a Ralph Lauren trench-coat with an exaggerated neckline, high collar and a terrain. She complimented the style with high heeled boots, sharp eyes and a high bun.

5. Claire Danes
Claire Danes has always been appreciated for her keen sense of fashion and she did not disappoint at the Met Gala 2017. Wearing a Monse outfit with white blouse with exaggerated, dropping sleeves with black straight pants and Hugh Dancy walking along with her, Danes looked in her element of great finesse and style.

6. Rami Malek
The Emmy winning star was an eye-popping spectacle at the Met Gala 2017 red carpet where he met the red in a Dior Homme red tuxedo. Complimented with a dash of black, the star looked out of this world among a crowd of black and white clad men.

7. Helen Lasichanh
Being the wife of the co-chair of the event must come with some duties. Helen Lasichanh walked with Pharrell on the red carpet in a Comme de Garçons original outfit from the designer’s latest collection which had no proper holes for neck and hands.

8. Ruth Negga
Ruth Negga walked the red carpet in an uber-chic white Valentino dress which was a straight stretch of fabric from her neck to toes, with slits on the side for her arms. She completed the look with Tiffany jewels.

9. Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid definitely turned heads in an Alexander Wang bodysuit of sheer net. The young model flaunted her lithe figure and her bare back which she complimented with black heels and a razor-sharp bob cut.

10. Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner embraced the art of in between with a La Perla number. Made with sheer black net, the dress wrapped around her figure at different angles, complimenting her figure to the fullest.

11. Cara Delevingne
Cara Delevingne has been known for her fluid gender identity and she exhibited that to her full advantage at the Met Gala 2017 red carpet with a Chanel metallic suit. The young model/actress also had her hari straightened to her scalp to support a bedazzled, silver stones on her hair.

12. Blake Lively
The queen of fashion red carpet looks dazzled everyone once more in her Atelier Versace gown. Providing an illusion of the elements with a gold bodice continuing into a terrain of blue that flowed behind her like waves of water.

13. Amy Fine Collins
Amy Fine Collins set the bar for gender fluidity costumes with her Thom Browne number. With half a bodice that resembled a suit, the other half consisted of a red bedazzled number that continued into a dress terrain.

14. Elizabeth Banks
Elizabeth Banks decided to play on the illusion part as she walked down the Met Gala 2017 red carpet in a Michael Kors Collection dress. Featuring a sight illusion design, the actress/producer carried a matching clutch to complete her look.

15. Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington also chose Michael Kors Collection to wear on the red carpet. Featuring a patchwork of black and silver fabric, Kerry pulled the whole look off with a silver choker and a black bob.

16. Riley Keough
Riley Keough embraced her masculine side with a Louis Vuitton regal number. She looked like an officer from older times yet her smoothed out skin and plain hair glowed with femininity. She completed the look with Repossi jewelry.

17. Madonna
Madonna also donned a military inspired Moschino outfit featuring camouflage fabric with patent leather sleeves and high shoulders.

18. P.Diddy
P. Diddy was one of the highlights of the night when he sprawled out on the flight of stairs for the camera in a star inspired suit with a matching cape and Christian Louboutin shoes

19. Adwoa  Aboah
Adwoa Aboah was also an inspiring figure on the red carpet. Wearing a Conner Ives white number that looked like a low-neck dinner jacket with a terrain. the model completed the all-white look with hot pink heels.

20. Solange Knowles
Beyoncé did not walk the red carpet this year but Solange Knowles did her best to embrace the theme of Comme de Garcon with a Thom Browne number. A black coat with a terrain made with what looked like inflatable material complete with some really peculiar heels.
