NES Classic Stock Spotted at ToysRUs, Target and Walmart

The Nintendo NES Classic is not sold out yet. Here is where shoppers can find it in May.

The discontinued NES Classic Edition can still be found in stock on May 3rd. Officially the NES Classic Edition is history, according to a Nintendo statement, but retailers are still getting new inventory.

Today there are 94 Walmart stores and 38 Target stores flagged to have the NES Classic in stock as of 9:00am ET. The number of stores that have the NES Classic in stock has dropped dramatically, but the NES Classic gets now restocked at other stores.

People report on social media that they spotted the NES Classic at ToysRUs stores. A TRU store in Cedar Hill, Texas received six NES Classic consoles, according to redditor.

NES hunters can check iStockNow for the latest stock updates as well as BrickSeek for Target and Walmart stores. To find NES Classic at ToysRUs stores, shoppers have to visit their local store to find out.

There are also whispers that GameStop is restocking the NES Classic. GameStop stores are flagged by iStockNow when they have stock. It does though also make sense to just pop into a GameStop location when making the rounds in the mall. GameStop has sold NES Classic bundles in the past online. Reseller prices for the NES Classic are still around $270 as arrival of new NES Classic stock is keeping prices in check. The lowest priced Nintendo NES Classic console sells for $275 plus shipping on amazon.com. Prices might stay at this level and not explode. Some predict that the NES Classic could fetch $500 once the inventory is completely sold out.

The reseller prices have been over $300 early April, right after the announcement that Nintendo stops making the NES Classic. Now prices came down quite a bit amidst the new NES Classic Edition stock.

For collectors the original NES Classic controller is a hot ticket. Prices for the $9.99 NES Classic controller are around $200 on eBay now.

The $59.99 Nintendo NES Classic Edition console launched on November 11 in stores and online. The supply was extremely constraint in stores and especially online. On April 13, Nintendo announced to stop production of the NES Classic Edition. Nintendo said that the last shipments of the NES Classic arrive through April. We keep spotting though the $59.99 NES Classic Edition in May.

The palm-sized NES console, retailing for $59.99 list price, features the classic Nintendo NES controller many geeks have grown up with. The retro console comes pre-installed with 30 classic NES games including Super Mario Bros., Pac-Man, Metroid, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda and Kirby's Adventures. The NES Classic Edition system is a miniaturized version of the groundbreaking NES, originally released in 1985.

The ability to mod the NES Classic and install an unlimited number of games has renewed the hype around the retro console. The latest hack enables the NES Classic to store 2,500 games.
