JPMorgan Analyst Thinks iPhone 8 will Launch in June

Analyst seems to be the only one who expects a June announcement

There have been lots of rumors flying around about the iPhone 8 in the last several months. Some of those rumors have recently suggested that there have been a bunch of delays with the iPhone 8 and that the smartphone would not land until later this year. At least one major analyst doesn't agree with those rumors.

JPMorgan is telling investors that Apple will announce the iPhone 8 in June at WWDC reports 9to5mac. The firm thinks while the phone would be announced in June, it would be this fall before it goes on sale. It does warn investors that they should expect weaker summer sales performance as customers wait for the updated phones to land in the fall.

JPMorgan's prediction is suspect since all other reports seem to indicate Apple would push back the announcement until at least September. While JPMorgan is going out on a limb with a June WWDC announcement prediction, all other sources still suggest WWDC will come and go with no new iPhones. These predictions point to September for the announcement and on sale dates of October or November for the iPhone 8.

Rumors, which anger Apple CEO Tim Cook, continue to suggest that Cupertino is having a hard time getting the iPhone 8 fingerprint sensor to work under the glass on the front. Rumors of major upgrades are hurting sales of the current iPhones as people hold off on buying hoping for new devices to launch soon.

One interesting rumor that has made the rounds of late suggests that Apple has doubled the number of OLED screens that it wants from Samsung. If Samsung can get the yields need to give Apple that many screens it might well turn out that the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 7S land with OLED screens onboard, which would put Apple on parity with top Android devices.
