Apple and Amazon have reportedly come to an agreement to brng Amazon video app to Apple TV.

Netflix is on the Apple TV. Hulu is on the Apple TV. The Amazon video app is not. This might finally change. Recode reports that Apple and Amazon have come to an agreement to bring Amazon Prime video to the Apple TV box this summer, according to people familiar with the matter.

Apple and Amazon do compete on streaming hardware, but these devices are not where the money is. Besides, I own both Apple TV and Fire TV stick. Actually I have two of each as we have two TVs in the house.

Amazon is not selling the Apple TV since 2015. The agreement might involve that Amazon is again selling the Apple TV boxes. The issue is supposed to be CEO level stuff. The deal is believed to be negotiated directly between Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook, if there is truth to the whole thing at all.

As the success of Netflix shows, it is all about original content and not about hardware and exclusion. Maybe its Netflix's growth that has led Apple and Amazon burry the hatchet. In related news, Citigroup has Netflix on a shortlist for a takeover by Apple. Anything is possible with $250 billion in the bank.
