Facebook under the auspices of Mark Zuckerberg plans to start its very own television shows.

Facebook has started its drive for TV shows and it is not looking back. According to BusinessInsider, the whole setup is ready to rumble. Programs will start airing from mid-June of this year.

About two dozen television shows are lined up for its valued users by the online social network. Many other shows have been given the go-ahead signal for production.

The social network has been on the lookout for shows in two main categories: a marquee tier for some lengthy, hefty budget shows and a scaled-down tier for smaller segments that cost less as well.

Facebook is to play a very real role in all this. It will not be a case of spectator sports for the online social network. It will get into the nitty gritty stuff as far as controlling the content of its services for its 2 billion members is concerned.

This is occurring at a time when firms such as Amazon, YouTube and Snap are engaged in similar activities. Quality video services mean that more users will prefer to come on board the platform that is Facebook.

According to The Verge, Facebook’s foray into television just might pay off big time in the future. Already its short video clips that are featured in each member’s account are a highly appreciated service.

Facebook has also hired the co-founder of College Humor as its global creative strategy chief. He has been busy lately doing what he can for Facebook.

According to CNBC, Facebook wants to conquer the territory that has been monopolized up until now by traditional television entertainment. Facebook is also hiring personalities that have links with Hollywood rather than Silicon Valley.

Among some of the shows that are being welcomed on the cyberspace phenomenon that is Facebook is Netflix’s “House of Cards”. Even a virtual reality dating show from Conde Nast Entertainment has been invited on board.

The A-list celebrities that are being contacted will star in some of the shows. It is indeed a fight to the finish for Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg has said that the company will even go into sports with the passage of time.

Facebook is definitely going places and it will surely be the “all entertainment sources under one roof” site on the Internet in future times.
