LG G6 is First Phone Supporting Netflix HDR Streaming

Here is a niche reason to get an LG G6.

LG scores a unique feature in the smartphone market. Netflix lists the LG G6 as first smartphone to support HDR on its site. Netflix is available in HDR and Dolby Vision on the LG G6 running the latest firmware for HD playback.

To stream HDR on an LG G6, users must have the premium 4K subscription. Netflix tells The Verge that the online video giant supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision. The LG Dolby Vision support on the G6 is not the reason that the company enabled the feature on the phone. The company did not disclose what made them support the G6 before for instance the much more popular Samsung Galaxy S8.

Samsung might have influenced the decision by using Mobile HDR Premium on the Galaxy S8. This is yet another HDR standard introduced by the UHD Alliance, specificially designed for mobile devices.

The LG G6 was unveiled earlier this year at the MWC 2017. Image via LG G6 review on LetsGoDigital.
