The very affordable new Acer Mixed Reality Headset for Windows 10 sells for $299.99.

At the Microsoft Build Event in Seattle, Microsoft announced that development kits for the Acer mixed reality headset are available for pre-order in the U.S. and Canada.

The pre-order for the Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset Developer Edition is available at the Microsoft Store now for $299 (USD), with delivery expected in August. The Acer Mixed Reality Developer Edition Headset is available for developers only.

In addition, Acer will begin selling a Windows Mixed Reality headset and motion controller bundle starting at $399 (USD) for the holiday season. Windows Mixed Reality experiences allow a variety of inputs such as advanced motion controllers, gamepads, mice, keyboards, as well as the power of gaze and voice. Windows Mixed Reality headsets and motion controllers give you the freedom to create the content you imagine with full rotational and positional tracking built into the headset.

The Acer Mixed Reality Headset features two high-resolution liquid crystal displays at 1440 x 1440px, 2.89” diagonal display size (x2), Front hinged display, 95 degrees horizontal field of view, Display refresh rate up to 90 Hz (native), Built-in audio out and microphone support through 3.5mm jack, Single cable with HDMI 2.0 (display) and USB 3.0 (data) for connectivity, Inside-out tracking and 4.0 meter cable.

The $399 Windows Mixed Reality headset and motion controller bundle will be an Oculus and Vive killer this coming holidays. Microsoft's VR push on Windows 10 Creators Update is expect to bring VR to the mass market.
