New Nintendo Switch Game Releases This Week

This week new Switch games are released.

Nintendo's Switch is getting a lot of praise despite the low number of games available for the new console. The game line-up is slowly growing since the release of the new hybrid console on March 3. The Nintendo Switch community is is extremely active an every new Switch game release no matter how big or small is celebrated.

This week Nintendo Switch owners can get Thumper. The rhythm game with crazy graphics will be released on Thursday, May 18 for $19.99 in the Nintendo eShop. Thumper, developed by Drool has been released last fall for Sony PS4 and Windows. The objective of Thumper is to guide a space beetle along a single track through a series of fantastic worlds.

Thumper is the only official US game release for the Switch. In Japan, Nintendo releases Battle Sports Mekuru in the eShop on May 18. The game can also be downloaded on US Switch consoles, as Nintendo made the Switch region-free. Also available on the Japanese eShop will be game Galaxy Fight: Universal Warriors. This title is a classic NeoGeo arcade game.

To purchase and download games on the Japanese eShop, gamers need a separate account for Japanese region store.

The Nintendo Switch game releases last week included the well received $29.99 Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition. The first Minecraft game for the Switch is only available as digital release only at this point. The physical release of Minecraft: Story Mode, The Complete Adventure for the Nintendo Switch is on July 18. Prime members can pre-order the game for $31.99 on amazon.com.

Nintendo fans are hoping for a new Nintendo Direct episode this week. Rumors about a Nintendo Direct that might bring Pokemon Stars for the Nintendo Switch flared up last week.

Next week Nintendo will release Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers. Street Fighter II, the most iconic fighting game of all time, is back on the Nintendo Switch! The newest iteration of SFII in nearly 10 years, Ultra Street Fighter II features all of the classic characters, a host of new single player and multiplayer features, as well as two new fighters: Evil Ryu and Violent Ken.

The big upcoming Switch games are Arms on June 16 and Splatoon 2 on July 21. Amazon offers pre-order discounts on both of the titles for Prime members to the tune of 20%.

On June 13, Cars 3: Driven to Win will be released for the Nintendo Switch. It's one of the first or the first multi-platform game release that also includes the Switch as option.
