Amazon Extends Buy Two Deal from Echo Show to Echo

The original Echo is now also offered at a discount when purchasing two.

The new Echo Show, unveiled last week, is available for pre-order for $229.99. When purchasing two, customers get $100 off with code SHOW2PACK. The Echo Show ships on June 28. Now a two pack deal is also available for the original Amazon Echo.

Customers save $80 when purchasing two Echo devices using code ECHO2PACK. This discount brings down the price of the Echo from $179.99 to $139.99.

Why is Amazon offering a discount on two Echo devices? The reason is the new Alexa calling and messaging feature. Echo owners can ask Alexa for instance to place a call to Mom or send a quick voice message to a friend. With Alexa, users can talk to anyone who has an Echo, Echo Dot, or the Alexa App.

Amazon's entry into the communication business was a surprise, but the service is a natural extension of the Alexa platform. The new Echo Show is also enabling video calls.

How big of a sales driver the communication feature will be for the Amazon Echo products remains to be seen. Amazon has identified parents of small kids as a prime target for the Echo Show in the first Echo Show commercial. There are certainly many good use cases in a household with small kids. For other households, Alexa's other skills will remain the dominate reason to get this smart home assistant.

The Echo and Echo Show bundle deals are the best offers on these Amazon devices until Amazon Prime Day in July.
