HTC U Ultra Gets Official Packing Snapdragon 821

Smartphone can be had with sapphire glass over the display

HTC has unveiled its latest smartphone with all the specs in tow, the new device is called the HTC U Ultra. The device measures in at 162.41 x 79.79 x 3.6-7.9mm and weighs 170g. The smartphone has a 5.7-inch Quad HD 2560 x 1440 Super LCD 5 with Dual display screen that is covered in Gorilla Glass 5 for the 64GB version and the 128GB version gets Sapphire Glass over the top. That secondary dual display is a 2.05-inch unit.

Resolution for that dual display is 160 x 1040. The OS for the smartphone is Android 7.0 with HTC Sense over the top. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 operating at 2.15GHz paired with 4GB of RAM. Internal storage is 64GB or 128GB and that storage is expandable with up to 2TB microSD cards. HTC notes that storage and memory configurations will vary by region.

The main camera is a 12MP HTC UltraPixel 2 with a BSI sensor and laser autofocus. The main camera also has phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, f/1.8 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, the ability to record slow motion in 720p resolution at 120fps. The smartphone can record video at 4K resolution with 3D Audio. The front camera is a 16MP unit with UltraPixel mode, BSI sensor, 1080p recording, and more. Sound is HTC USonic, HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition.

The HTC U Ultra comes in dual SIM and single SIM versions with both operating on 850/900/1800/1900MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. The device will also work on 3G UMTS networks including AWS/850/900/1900/2100 MHz and HSDPA 42, HSUPA 5.76 networks for single SIM models. Dual SIM flavors work on 850/900/1900/2100 MHz networks and HSDPA 42, HSUPA 5.76. 4G LTE networks are supported up to 600Mbps.

Other features include an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, motion-g sensor, compass, gyro, magnetic sensor, fingerprint sensor, and a sensor hub to track activity. It has GPS + AGPS, GLONASS, and Beidou support. The phone has a USB type C port, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, and HTC Connect built in. Power is from a 3000mAh internal battery promising up to 26 hours talktime on 3G/4G networks and the battery supports Quick Charge 3.0. Pricing and availability are unannounced.
