Pokemon Go May 18 Event Brings more Rock-type Pokemon and 50% off Poke Balls

Niantic and the Pokemon company announce a new week long event for Pokemon Go.

Niantic and the Pokemon company have a new treat in store for the remaining Pokemon Go trainers. Starting on Thursday May 18, more Rock-type Pokémon will appear.

Through May 25, Pokemon such as Omanyte, Onix, and Sudowoodo will appear with greater frequency. Plus, the Buddy Pokemon will give you Candy after walking only one quarter the usual distance. PokeStops will earn more items during this week long event.

Beginning on May 18, trainers find a new explorer's hat in the clothing collection. Also during this time, all Poke Balls will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Niantic is planning real world community events, as reported earlier this month. This events are aimed to solidify the Pokemon Go player community. The hype has faded, but the player community remains sizable.

Financial transaction activity has slowed though quite a bit. Pokemon Go ranks 28th in the top grossing apps on the iTunes store. Gamers spend much more money in games like Candy Crush Saga, Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. Last summer, Pokemon Go was the top grossing app on the app store.
