Nintendo Direct May 17 Is About Nintendo Switch Games Arms and Splatoon 2

Just weeks ahead of the E3 2017, Nintendo hosts a new Nintendo Direct webcast.

Nintendo announced a new Nintendo Direct presentation for today, May 17. The webcast is providing a deep dive into the upcoming ARMS game for Nintendo Switch. In addition a new trailer for Splatoon 2 will also premiere at the tail end of the video.

Nintendo Switch gamers are hoping that there will be more in today's Nintendo Direct stream than announced. Rumors of a Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch have been making circulating. There is always a chance for a surprise announcement in Nintendo Direct. On the other hand, the E3 2017 is closing in.

Nintendo will hold an E3 2017 press event on June 13. If there is a Pokemon Game coming for the Nintendo Switch, the E3 would be the place to announce it.

The big upcoming Switch games are Arms on June 16 and Splatoon 2 on July 21. Amazon offers pre-order discounts on both of the titles for Prime members to the tune of 20%. Nintendo announced new Nintendo Switch accessories, including gear themed with Arms and Splatoon.

In Arms, you choose a fighting champion, equip your own combination of extendable arms, and then use a mix of button presses and quick hand motions to really take the fight to your opponent. Throw punches and guide them mid-flight to hit agile fighters, avoid incoming attacks with dashes, or trampoline high into the air to rain down fists from above. Power-up your punches to deal extra damage or curve your fists around obstacles to hit skittish opponents. Fill up your special gauge to dish out devastating combinations and finish them off.

Two years have passed since the original Splatoon game was released, and two years have also passed in Inkopolis! So expect a fresh wave of fashion, not to mention new weapons and gear. Dual wield the new Splat Dualies or stick to mainstays like chargers and rollers, which have been remixed with new strategic possibilities. As always, Turf War is the favored sport among Inklings, but they also dig ranked battles, taking down Octarians in a robust single-player campaign, and battling enemy Salmonids in one dangerous part-time job.

Watch the Nintendo Direct presentation live on the Nintendo Direct site on May 17 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET.

The Nintendo Switch console continues to be a hard find, but there are options to find one in stock. ToysRUs restocks the Nintendo Switch on Friday in stores and there are four Nintendo Switch bundles on sale online.
