iPhone SE Grabs Top Spot on American Customer Satisfaction Index

Are consumers who own small phones just happier in general?

Every year the American Customer Satisfaction Index or ACSI survey is published and it looks at how happy people are with their smartphones. In the latest version of the satisfaction index for the year, the iPhone SE has taken the top spot. This was rather unexpected and indicates that people are wanting smaller and cheaper devices.

The iPhone SE had a satisfaction score of 87 giving it the highest score in the survey. The second place device was the Galaxy S6 edge+ and it has a score of 86, only a single point behind Apple. The iPhone 7 Plus had a score of 86, Galaxy S6 Edge was 85, Galaxy S7 84, and the S7 edge scored 84.

The device at the very bottom of the list was the Galaxy Core Prime with a score of 70. The lowest scoring iPhone was the iPhone 6 at 79. ASCI managing director David VanAmburg said, "Over the past few years, the general trend for smartphones has been toward larger screens. But apparently, consumers were craving a new iteration of a smaller, less expensive phone as the iPhone SE – Apple’s first update to a 4-inch phone since 2013 – comes in first in ACSI this year."

The results of this survey came from interviews with over 36,000 consumers in the US chosen at random and contacted via email. PhoneArena says that it would like to know the percentage of people surveyed that own an iPhone SE. this is because some would say it's easy for people wanting a smaller phone to be more happy with the iPhone SE since it is one of the few smaller phones left.

The problem for me with larger phones is that they are difficult to hold and use one handed. I have larger hands and still find your typical 5-inch screens to be too much of a handful to the point where I drop my phone frequently. The smaller iPhone SE would certainly help that.
