Apple AirPods Firmware Update Rolls Out

AirPods update rolls out with no notes on what it fixes

Apple is stealthily rolling out an update of the AirPods wireless earphones. The new firmware started rolling out yesterday and brings the AirPods to 3.7.2 firmware. The update doesn't have much in the way of notes letting you know what was changed.

The update is only said to bring bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is suppose to be installed automatically when AirPods are connected to the iPhone according to MacRumors. You can check what version of the firmware your AirPods are on by looking in settings- General- About- AirPods while the earphones are connected to the phone.

There are some Airpod users who are claiming that the update didn't roll out automatically as expected. Reports indicate that the Case lid has to be open for the update to happen. The case is also recommended to be connected to the charger and linked to an iPhone and connected to WiFi.

One person reported success in updating by connecting to WiFi, opening the AirPod case, going to about on the iPhone and choosing AirPod, counting to 30, shutting the AirPod case, counting to 30, and opening the case back up.
