Facebook is investing and signing deals with entertainment companies to bring original video content to the app and attract more advertising

Facebook has been updating and incorporating all kinds of new features on the app. The app has a separate messaging app in Messenger, they have a multitude of reaction emoticons and they recently added the Facebook Story option as well. However, the app has reportedly been eyeing the video content section for some time.

Although there are so many video that get shared everyday on the app, Facebook does not own anything. The videos are the property of the users. Facebook has no original content which can not only bring in investors but also create a new platform for the app to explore.

The app seems to be taking the first step toward establishing an original Facebook video content option. According to Reuters, Facebook signed deals with various entertainment companies including, Group Nine Media, ATTN, Buzzfeed and Vox Media.

All these companies will provide original content for the Facebook video service. The videos will reportedly be in short and long format. They will also feature ad breaks in between.

The network is reportedly paying up to $250,000 for long episode of the show that will be featured. This long episode will be almost 20 to 30 minutes long. They will pay close to $10,000 to $35,000 for shorter episodes, reportedly ranging from 5 to 10 minutes.

These episodes will be part of continuous shows. Facebook will reportedly own the rights to the longer episodes. That will not be the case for shorter video content.

Zuckerberg has already assured investors that they will be getting an exposure platform with the Facebook video service.
No comments have been made from any of the companies reps or Facebook about these new deals.
