Samsung has finally come out and addressed the odd issue that many Nintendo Switch users have complained about since the console was released - the automatic HDMI switch feature that almost all of its televisions have.

In a statement to The Verge, Samsung said it “will be issuing a Firmware update early this summer that will address this behavior and provide the level of convenience that was intended.”

Most of the 2016 TVs from Samsung automatically switch the active HDMI input to a different one if they detect that the device has been connected to a second output that is turned on - which is a problem with the Nintendo Switch. There isn't any way to turn this off through either the television or the Switch.

Users have been reporting that the TV will randomly connect to the Switch when the console is in the sleep mode. As you can imagine, this is quite a problem. In fact, a thread on the Nintendo Support Forums has dozens of comments, even if the problem doesn't start with the Switch. Of course, there are other devices impacted by this as well, including those running Apple TV.

Whenever the patch arrives, we will have more details about how it works because as of now, we have no idea what they will be doing. The best guess is that the upcoming firmware update will add an option to disable the automatic switching.
