Exclusive SNES Classic Midnight Launch Party at Nintendo New York Store Announced

The Nintendo flagship store hosts exclusive Super NES Classic Edition midnight launch party.

The Nintendo flagship store just announced a treat for SNES Classic fans. The Nintendo NY store will host an exclusive retro 90's midnight launch party for the Super NES Classic Edition. To get access to the party you need to be one of the first 150 people in line at 4 pm on Thursday, September 28. The 150 attendees will be able to purchase the SNES Classic during the party.

Looks like it was not such a crazy idea by Youtuber CND to line up 10 days ahead of the SNES Classic launch at the Nintendo New York store. This SNES Classic launch event sounds to be the coolest way to celebrate the release of the SNES Classic.

For people that have not made it into the midnight SNES Classic party, the SNES Classic goes on sale at 9 am at the Nintendo store. As reported earlier, SNES Classic inventory starts to show up at Walmart stores. Inventory tracking systems report up to 96 units in stock for the September 29 launch.

We also expect the SNES Classic to be available online at launch. To be one of the first to score a SNES Classic online in the US on launch day, get the free Tracker app to receive real-time alerts when the SNES Classic is in stock online. You will be one of the first to own a SNES Classic. Users of the app just select "Notify Me" on the SNES Classic listing to get notified when the SNES Classic Edition is in stock online.

The Tracker app is available on iOS and Android. You can find the app in the app store with searching for just for "i4u".

Some European stores have received new SNES Classic pre-order inventory in the past days including Amazon Germany, Amazon France, FNAC in France and Boulanger in France. While we see activity in Europe, there is nothing happening at retailers in the United States.

All focus is apparently on the official release day of the SNES Classic Edition on September 29. The SNES Classic will be easier to buy than expected. Nintendo announced last week that more units of Super NES Classic Edition would ship on September 29 in the U.S. than were shipped of NES Classic Edition all last year.

Leaked SNES Classic stock levels for ToysRUs, Walmart, and Target support Nintendo's claim, but also put it into perspective. Stores will have between 30 and 90 SNES Classic units in stock on launch day. The $79.99 SNES Classic will still sell out on release day, despite the increased supply.

You have to put in some effort to get a SNES Classic on release day. Lines at stores will begin hours ahead of the stores opening hours. How early you have to line up depends on the popularity of your local store.

A leaked document on Nintendeal reveals that Best Buy stores will hand out tickets for the SNES Classic. There will be a limit of one unit per customer. The SNES Classic release will feel like Black Friday. Best Buy stores usually hand out tickets starting a few hours before the stores open. You have 3 hours after the store opens to pick up the SNES Classic with a ticket.

Nintendo also announced to continue to produce the SNES Classic into 2018. Eventually, everybody who wants a SNES Classic will get one. The Japanese video game company even brings back the NES Classic in summer of 2018. Depending on how many SNES Classic units Nintendo can ship during the Holiday season, we might even see Black Friday SNES Classic deals.

Initial tests show that the SNES Classic will likely also support modifications to install more games. Starting September 29, the SNES Classic will be available at the following online stores:
