iPhone X Sales Off the Charts Says Apple

Apple confirms the obvious.

Apple Store customers have to wait for 5 to 6 weeks for the iPhone X to arrive when they pre-order now. The release day pre-order inventory of the iPhone X sold out in minutes Friday night. Apple commented on the iPhone X pre-order launch sent to media outlets including TechCrunch.

"We are thrilled to be taking orders for iPhone X, the future of the smartphone. We can see from the initial response, customer demand is off the charts," says the statement confirming the obvious.

Apple continues: "We’re working hard to get this revolutionary new product into the hands of every customer who wants one, as quickly as possible. We will keep accepting orders online, and iPhone X will be available at Apple retail stores on Friday, November 3 starting at 8 a.m., as well as from our carrier and retailer partners around the world."

To find out how many iPhone X units Apple sold, we have to wait like until the next earnings call. The Apple Q4 earnings call on November 2 might shed some lights, but the presented sales numbers are for the quarter ending September 30. For the first official iPhone X sales numbers, we have to wait until the Apple fiscal Q1 2018 earnings call.

The iPhone X will be in stock at Apple Stores and apparently also at carrier locations. This is your next chance to get an iPhone X in November. As Apple continues to take pre-orders, eventually the delivery timeframe will slip into 2018 for the most expensive iPhone.

The iPhone X is not just an expensive investment, it's also expensive to maintain. A screen replacement is $279. Despite the shortage, Sam's Club advertised a $250 gift card promotion for the iPhone X in the November 11 Holiday sale.
