Nintendo Switch to Outsell Wii U by March 2018

Nintendo earnings release on Monday reveals strong growth.

Nintendo raises the sales forecast for the Nintendo Switch from 10 million to 16.7 million units for the fiscal year 2018 ending in March of 2018. To date, Nintendo sold 7.63 million Switch consoles worldwide.

In case the 16.7 million sales forecast holds then the Nintendo Switch will have sold far more units in one year than the Wii U sold during its lifespan. Nintendo sold 13.56 Wii U units from 2012 to 2017.

The 14 million Nintendo Switch forecast is still seen as conservative, as the Holiday season will bring extreme demand. It's just up to Nintendo to make enough Switch units available in the next two months.

Right now Nintendo is on top of the Nintendo Switch demand despite the blockbuster Super Mario Odyssey release on Friday. The $299.99 Nintendo Switch is in stock on Amazon.com since a felt eternity.

The Nintendo Earnings numbers are available on the investor section of Nintendo's Japan site.
