VW is currently busy tinkering away on a Jetta compact sedan for the upcoming generation. It will get unveiled at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. There is another upcoming model though that is meant for the year 2019.

A sporty version of this termed the GLI which is a prototype has had its snapshots taken recently. The dual tip exhaust, lower suspension and fashionable wheels, tires and brakes all make a whole lot of sense in case of this vehicle.

The novel Jetta will be churned out approximately 365 days after the original. Furthermore, a manual transmission facility will be available on the new GLI, according to MotorAuthority.

This novel GLI is for all purposes much more advanced in its structural-functional qualities than the erstwhile model. The real reason for this is the shift to the VW MQB platform instead of the outdated and obsolete PQ35 that is extant in the current model.

The 2.0 liter turbocharged engine leaves the 210 hp and 270 pound-feet torque of the predecessor in the lurch. Add to that a seven speed dual clutch and you have a sedan worthy of its driving chops. Over 10,000 units of the Jetta are being churned out from the VW factories per month right now.
