  • GameStop Brings Down Powerpass Unlimited Program

Powerpass rental service has been brought down by GameStop indefinitely with no reason stated for the action

GameStop recently announced a new game rental program. The rental service titled Powerpass would work for six months at a flat fee of $60. The subscribers of the service could rent any game from a library of games.

They can play it as much as they wanted. When they were finished with the game they could return it to library and swap it for another game. This process was free with new renewal fees and could be repeated as many times as a player wanted for six months.

After the six months, the player would be able to keep one game title from all the games that they had played or taken. So, it was one of the great deals that gamers have been looking forward to. The service was set to go fully functional on November 19th. However, it looks like it may never come.

According to a report by Kotaku, GameStop has taken down the Powerpass service. They have put the rental service on a “temporary pause”. There has been no response from the company regarding the throwback. Sources have cited “program limitations” as the possible reason for the sudden stop.

The sources have found out that the company’s point-of-sale system is unable to handle the new rental program and GameStop had to stop it. There has been no report about when the program will be opened again or whether it will be opened again.
